Things to do in Paris
Catacombes
Catacombes are a maze of underground tunnels with alcoves that go back up to 20 feet that are full of bones. Not expensive with lots of stairs, it offers interesting sights to see, but it all starts to look the same after a while. Thus seeing 6 million people’s bones may just start to creep you out. The steps could pose a big problem if you are older.
Notre Dame Cathedral
It doesn’t cost anything to walk inside and around the lovely cathedral, one of the world’s most stunning pieces of architecture. Words cannot describe this place, the atmosphere is tangible. It is a beautiful cathedral with amazing details both when you get in there or just stay outside. It gives you a feeling of holiness. It is slightly crowded. Be warned that the tour on the roof is great, the view is to die for, but the stairs are very numerous. Tip: Don’t go while they are celebrating Mass.
Musee Carnavalet
Carnavalet is located in the Marais. It is small, but exquisite. It shows in a series of deft exhibits the fazcinating history of Paris and its citizens. Here you will understand differences among furnishings of Louis XIV, XV, XVI, first and second empire in a very short time. But best are the little things, like Proust’s bedroom or locks of hair from Marie Antoinette. If you get off on history and its objects, this is a wonderful and relatively unknown place.
The Eiffel Tower
It is not very expensive and a must do when in Paris for the 1st time. The night-time beauty will take your breath away. The views are awesome! Since as many as 200,000,000 have already visited the tower you should see it as well. Don’t stop on the 2nd level or you will miss out on the true view. Must go all the way to the top. Prices; Top 12,00 €, 2nd floor 7,80 €, 1st floor 4,80 €. A long wait may discourage impatient tourists.
Arc de Triomphe
Climb to the top the experience one of better views of Paris. There is such a small charge to go up the Arc, and it is definitely worth it. Lower than the Eiffel Tower it offers relatively good views since the city is relatively flat. Inside the Arc there is a little historical museum. Take some photos of the city there.
Centre Pompidou
This is one of the three premiere modern art museums including the Tate and MoMAThe. It features a wonderful collection of modern art within its creatively designed building. You will love the Dali artworks. Definitely does not fit with Paris’ old-world style - ugly even. It also has a cinema, concerts and children’s activities. The museum gift shop also has some trippy souvies to bring back. Definitly a place to visit again.
Disneyland Resort Paris
If you are a fan of rides or disney you are sure to have a great time here as it is the most wonderful park in the world. You feel like you are in one of those tales that your granny used to tell you when you were little. It is exellent to spend a day out with family or friends and you will really enjoy it. Take a photo with one of the disney characters or you can have breakfast with Disney caracters.
Sainte Chapelle
Without doubt, it is one of the most beautiful cathedrals you can see in France. The lower floor may seem a bit drab, but once you make it up the clausterphobic spiral staircase, you’ll be amazed by all the stained glass. Lots of beautiful stained glass. The stained-glass windows cast colors into the very air of the chapel. Never seen anything quite like it anywhere else - quite a magical experience.
